FISH FRY Pre NYE Party * Fri Dec 30th !!!
Our last blast of 2011 .....get your flashy threads on & come down & party with us on Friday 30th Dec at the BLUE GOOSE LOUNGE * 5201 SUNSET BLVD * HOLLYWOOD , CALIF.
DJ Lucky La Rocka & special guests will be spinning the vinyl voola all nite & remember as always ...... NO COVER CHARGE !
What is the FISH FRY ?
The 'FISH FRY * Hollywood Speakeasy' is a monthly nite held in Hollywood , Los Angeles that caters to Hepsters , Flipsters , True Fine Mama's & Finger Poppin' Daddies !
What kind of music ??? Generally ....the finest in vintage vibes from the 40s ,50s & 60s ...& also contemporary tunes of that ilk !
HEP SWING * JIVIN' JUMP BLUES * TWISTED ROCKABILLY * RAUCOUS ROCK N ROLL * EVIL SURF * GRINDIN' GARAGE PUNK * GREASY SOUL * EXOTICA * SLEAZEBALL JAZZ * 60s BEAT *
A little backstory ....
Under the club moniker KLUB BIM BAM , English DJ Lucky la Rocka first started at a short lived joint called The Overlook on Vermont Avenue in 2005, KBB then moved to Cranes Hollywood Tavern for a short while before eventually settling at The Stone Bar on Hollywood Blvd in Thai Town , this lasted for a good while hosting many great nites with some knockout live acts rocking the KBB stage . When it suddenly became apparent to the owner that Rock n Roll was too loud & raucous for Thai Town ..... KBB uprooted & moved to the Redwood Bar in downtown LA, where many great shows followed for a few years & also a name change to the SATURDAY NITE FISH FRY( influenced by the great Louis Jordan tune ) . In clubland it seems nothing 'stays gold' forever so after leaving downtown & a hiatus the ' FISH FRY * Hollywood Speakeasy ' found a home in Gower Gulch at the Hollywood Studio Bar & Grill on Sunset Blvd ...a cool space but sadly a none too reliable & organized management personnel which again meant a parting of the ways.
Time passed & eventually a new venue appeared out of the Hollywood ether after a chance encounter one dark & fortuitous nite..... the BLUE GOOSE LOUNGE found nestled at the corner of Sunset & Kingsley ( opp the old Safari Sam's ) is the new home to the FISH FRY ! Upon entering this unassuming Hollywood hideaway , a revelation awaits you .....a TARDIS like space some have said .... comfy couches...a dimly lit rumpus room..... balcony seating & room to dance yourself delirious ! Not to mention fast & FRIENDLY bartenders & FREE parking outside ....is this a DREAM i hear you cry !!!
With the new venue comes a new format ..... the FISH FRY no longer has bands , we bring you dapper DJ's playing REAL VINYL RECORDS ( & the odd shiny coaster ) for your listening & dancing pleasure ALL NITE LONG !
And to top it all ....this is a NO COVER nite ..... so call your pals , get your best vintage threads on & head down to the FISH FRY ............ IT'S A BLAST !!!
